The two sides traded goals early in the first before Jack DeTommaso and Kyle Hennelly gave the visitors a 4-2 lead less than a minute into the second quarter. Soldo then posted back-to-back unassisted strikes to tie the game. The run of five straight goals also saw a pair of goals from Rory Scanlon (Maple Grove, Minn.) before Matt Webb (Northport, N.Y.) completed the spurt to push Springfield ahead 7-4. Hennelly and Webb traded goals as the score stood at 8-5 in favor of the Pride at the break.

Merchant Marine was able to pull within three at 10-7 midway through the third, but Berkel's strike with 8:50 left in the quarter ignited another spurt of five straight tallies for the Pride to put the game out of reach. Soldo, Berkel and two goals from Anderson completed the 15-7 win for Springfield in its first-ever meeting with Merchant Marine.
