Hartford, Conn. – March 11, 2026 – The Springfield College women's lacrosse team fell to Trinity College (Conn.) on Wednesday evening, 13-5, in non-conference action on the road. Trinity improved to 4-0, while Springfield dipped to 1-3.
Claire Ognibene (New Canaan, Conn.) posted two goals to lead the Pride.
Lily Johnson (Oceanside, N.Y.),
Kristyn Vasselin (Hudson, Mass.) and
Molly Forrest (Wakefield, Mass.) all notched one goal apiece.
Liz Neri (Farmington, Conn.) scooped up a team-high four ground balls,
Hailey Gaydos (Newington, Conn.)posted a team-best four caused turnovers and
Sarah Newton (Colchester, Conn.) recorded a team-high six draw controls.
As a team, Trinity held the edge in shots (35-18), ground balls (32-23) and free position goals (5-2). Springfield was able to win the battle on the draw (12-8).
Trinity scored the first three goals of the game before an unassisted strike by Vasselin midway through the first put Springfield on the board. The Bantams then scored three additional goals before the Pride received a strike from Ognibene halfway through the second. Trinity took an 8-2 lead into the halftime break.
Springfield was only able to muster single goals each of the first three quarters as Ognibene added her second goal in the third, while Forrest and Johnson tallied the two Springfield goals in the fourth as Trinity went on to win by a 13-5 final.
Springfield will travel to Wheaton to open NEWMAC play on Saturday at 1:00 pm.
