Clermont, Fla. - March 16, 2026 - The Springfield College softball team blanked nonconference opponent William Paterson on Monday morning at the Legends Way Complex, 7-0.
Both the Pride and the Pioneers move to 3-2 overall after playing in their fifth games of the season.
Amelia DeRosa (Miller Place, N.Y.) led the Pride going 4-for-5 with a run scored while also taking the win in the circle. DeRosa shutout the Pioneers as she struck out five and gave up six hits. Reilly Hunter (Wallingford, Conn.) and Kate Katsetos (Bewster, N.Y.) each notched a pair of hits while Hunter scored four times and Katsetos drove in three runs.
The Pride put one on the board in the top of the first inning as Emilia Santiago (West Hartford, Conn.) reached on an error which allowed Hunter to score.
In the top of the third, Katsetos notched a triple to score Hunter and Carissa Pecchia (Mamaroneck, N.Y.) as Springfield took a 3-0 lead.
The Pride continued to dominate at the plate and went on to add three more runs in the fourth. Pecchia walked to bring in DeRosa before Santiago hit an RBI groundout to knock in Haley Ball (Westbrook, Maine) as Katsetos then drove in Hunter with a single. In the fifth, Santiago singled through the left side to bring in Hunter to give Springfield the 7-0 win.
Springfield was scheduled to play Wisconsin-Stevens Point at 2:30 pm, but the game was postponed due to weather.
The Pride will play Geneseo and Simpson on Wednesday at 2:45 pm and 5:00 pm.
