Orlando, Fla. - March 16, 2026 - The Springfield College women's tennis team was defeated by Bethel (Minn.) in its opening match of their trip to Florida, 5-2.
Bethel improves to 8-0 on the year as Springfield drops to 1-2 overall.
Peyton Gaudreau (Branford, Conn.) and
Ava Shea (Belchertown, Mass.) took the win at No. 2 doubles by a score of 7-6 (7-5). Bethel won easily at No. 1 and No. 3 to take the doubles point.
Erica Jud (Glen Head, N.Y.) and
Kelly McGoldrick (Monroe, N.Y.) added points for the Pride as both won their singles matches. Jud won at No. 3 singles by scores 6-3, 7-3 and McGoldrick won at No. 4 singles by scores of 7-5, 2-6, 10-8. At No. 2 singles,
Kapom Vettayawaikoon (Phuket, Thailand) was edged by Michaella Sullivan as Vettayawaikoon won the opening set but ultimately fell by scores of 6-4, 1-6, 8-10. Bethel won the remaining singles matches in straight sets to take the match, 5-2.
Springfield will compete against St. Norbert tomorrow at 6:00 pm at the UTSA National Campus.
