Chicopee, Mass. – March 23, 2026 – The third-ranked Springfield College men's volleyball team defeated Elms College in straight sets for the second time this season. Tonight, the Pride hit. 507 and won by scores of 25-17, 25-15, 25-16.
Springfield, the top-ranked team in the NCAA Power Index ratings (NPI) and third-ranked team in the AVCA Division III Coaches Poll, improved to 16-3, while Elms dropped to 13-11.
As a team, Springfield produced 44 kills tonight and hit above .500 for the fourth time this season.
Carter Durivage (East Greenbush, N.Y.) tallied ten kills and hit .643 to lead the Pride, while
Jake DesLauriers (Eastport, N.Y.) registered seven kills,
Brennan Cutter (Trumbull, Conn.) added six kills and
Sam Levinson (LaGrange, Ill.) chipped in with five kills on six errorless swings.
Dylan Mulvaney (Reston, Va.) dished out 32 assists, while
Ricardo Ortiz (Bayamon, Puerto Rico) posted a team-best six digs in the sweep.
Elms held a 5-4 edge in the first before a swing by Cutter ignited a run of four straight points as the Pride went ahead 8-5. A kill by
Will Kirchhoff (Macedon, N.Y.) paired with an ace from Durivage and an error by Elms surged Springfield ahead by five at 13-8. Late in the set, an error at the service line pulled the Blazers within three at 20-17, but Springfield went on to score the final five points of the first to win it 25-17. Three Elms errors paired with a kill from DesLauriers and an ace by
Fabian Matos (Orlando, Fla.) terminated the first for the Pride.
Springfield hit .750 in the second with 15 kills on 20 errorless swings to win it 25-15. Springfield led 7-6 before two straight kills from Durivage began a 9-3 spurt for the Pride to extend the lead to 16-9. A solo block by Levinson paired with a kill by
Joey Preische (Penfield, N.Y.) put Springfield within two at 23-14 before two errors by Elms gave Springfield the second.
In the third tied at ten, kills from
Nathan Goh (Germantown, MD.) and Cutter put Springfield ahead 13-10. Down the stretch the Pride outscored Elms, 15-6, to win the third 25-16 as the run saw kills from five different student-athletes. A kill from
Billy Cavanagh (Yardley, pa.) and another ace from Matos set up match point as Preische finished a swing from
Dyllan Nguyen (Fountain Valley, Calif.) completing the sweep.
Springfield will travel to Sage on Wednesday for a tilt at 6:00 pm.
