No. 1 Men's Volleyball Posts 3-0 Road Win at Sage

Albany, N.Y. – March 25, 2026 – The Springfield College men's volleyball team returned to the top spot in the AVCA Division III national poll and went on the road to defeat Sage in straight sets on Wednesday evening.

Springfield was not only ranked first in the AVCA poll, but sits first in the NCAA Power Index rankings (NPI). Tonight, the Pride won by scores of 25-20, 25-16, 25-20 and hit at a .390 clip as the nation's best hitting team this season.

Brennan Cutter (Trumbull, Conn.) posted ten kills and hit .538 on the night to go along with two aces and a block. Jake DesLauriers (Eastport, N.Y.) added eight kills and an ace, while Carter Durivage (East Greenbush, N.Y.)Sam Levinson (LaGrange, Ill.) and AJ Seveland (Jenkintown, Pa.) all tallied five kills tonight. Dylan Mulvaney (Reston, Va.) dished out 37 assists and had two blocks of his own.

Tied at nine in the first, three Sage errors alongside a kill and an ace from Cutter and a swing by Durivage pushed Springfield ahead 15-10. Sage ultimately pulled back within one point at 19-18, but the Pride ripped off five straight points on two kills by DesLauriers, a swing by Cutter and two errors by the Gators setting up set point for Springfield. Sage fended off a pair of set points before Seveland terminated the first with a kill off the hands of Mulvaney.

Springfield raced out to an 8-3 lead in the second after a pair of kills from Seveland. After trading points, a kill from Will Kirchhoff (Macedon, N.Y.) made the score 19-11. Later, up 21-14 kills by Joey Preische (Penfield, N.Y.)Billy Cavanagh (Yardley, Pa.) and Mulvaney secured the middle stanza for the Pride, 25-16. The Pride hit a match-high .650 with 14 kills on 20 swings in the second, while holding the hosts to a .000 hitting percentage in the second (8-8-21).

Cutter began the third with another kill, but Sage was able to pull ahead 9-5 for its first lead since the score read 3-2 in the first. Five Sage errors and a kill by Levinson evened the score at 11 before Cutter ignited a 6-2 run for Springfield to ultimately go ahead for good, 17-14. Cutter and Durivage gave Springfield match point and a service error by Sage provided the final point for the Pride. Springfield took the third, 25-20, and earned its 13th sweep in 20 contests in 2026.

Springfield will host St. Joseph's (Long Island) and Baruch on Saturday for a tri-match in Blake Arena beginning at 12:30pm.
