Springfield, Mass. - March 28, 2026 - In a record breaking day, the Springfield College men's volleyball team returned to Blake Arena for its final regular season home matches to sweep both St. Joseph's and Baruch in a Saturday afternoon tri-match.
Springfield improves to 19-3 overall and will head to Wentworth on Wednesday night. The Pride defeated St. Joseph's by scores of 25-20, 25-16, 25-16 and Baruch by scores of 25-21, 25-23, 25-22.
In the first match, Springfield broke two NCAA Division III records for team kills and assists in a three-set match. The Pride recorded 58 kills, breaking the previous record of 57 kills that was set by Stevens against Alvernia on March 26, 2022. Dyllan Nguyen (Fountain Valley, Calif.) dished out 52 assists to break the previous record of 51 set by Jacob Patterson of Stevens on January 26, 2018 against Elms.

Joey Preische (Penfield, N.Y.) notched a double-double as he hit .481 with 15 kills and 12 digs. AJ Seveland (Jenkintown, Pa.) also recorded 15 kills along with tallying three aces and two blocks as Nathan Goh (Germantown, Md.) hit .556 with six kills. Nguyen also recorded a double-double as he totaled 52 assists and 11 digs with two aces.
The first set saw plenty of back-and-forth between both teams as there were four lead changes and the score was tied nine times. After being down 11-9, two consecutive kills from Goh and two straight aces from Seveland put Springfield back in the lead, 13-11. The Pride finally pulled away at their 16th point as Springfield went on a 4-1 run highlighted by a kill and ace from Presiche, a kill from Seveland and an ace from Ngyuen to take the lead, 19-16. After a dump from Nguyen to make it match point, he then sealed the first set with an ace as the Pride took it 25-22.
Springfield took an early 12-5 lead in the second set as six combined kills from Seveland and Preschie and aces from Seveland, Brennan Cutter (Trumbull, Conn.) and Billy Cavanagh (Yardley, Pa.) powered the start of the first. Springfield continued to dominate, going on a 4-0 to lead by ten before five of the Pride's final six points came by kills from Evan Costley (Simi Valley, Calif.) as the Pride took it, 25-16.
The Pride jumped out quickly again, taking a 13-7 lead highlighted by ten kills and blocks from Cavanaugh and Seveland, and Costly and Will Kirchhoff (Macedon, N.Y.). A three-point spurt featuring kills from Costly and Cavanaugh would make it 17-9 before another three consecutive points highlighted by kills from Goh, Presiche and Seveland would put the Pride up 22-13. A kill from Richard Eber Jr. (Hummelstown, Pa.) would give Springfield the win, 25-16.
Springfield 3, Baruch 0
Cutter led the Pride, hitting .615 with 10 kills and three blocks while Carter Durivage (East Greenbush, N.Y.) also recorded 10 kills and four digs. Sam Levinson (LaGrange, Ill.) notched eight kills and three aces as Jake DesLauriers (Eastport, N.Y.) also tallied three aces. Dylan Mulvaney (Reston, Va.) dished out 29 assists while recording two aces and two blocks.
The Pride jumped out to a 7-1 lead after scoring six consecutive points featuring three straight aces from DesLauriers to force a Baruch timeout. The Bearcats then got back into the game, going on a 6-0 run of their own to shorten Springfield's lead to one, 13-12. An ace from Mulvaney forced another timeout from Baruch as the Pride went up 19-15 before Baruch was able to tie it back up at 20. Springfield then outscored the Bearcats 5-1 as a service error gave the Pride the win, 25-21.
Baruch took an early four-point lead at 10-6 before Springfield went on a 5-0 run which featured three straight kills from Cutter and back-to-back aces from Levinson to get back into the game and go up 11-10. After continuously exchanging points, Springfield got to match point due to a Bearcats error before Cutter recorded an ace for the win, 25-23.
Springfield jumped out to a 4-0 lead which featured kills from Durivage and Mulvaney before Baruch got right back into it, going on a 12-4 run to take a 12-8 lead. The Pride then started to work back, going on a 4-0 run highlighted by kills from Kirchoff and Levinson, an ace from Seveland and a block from Levinson and Cutter to tie it up at 12. After exchanging multiple points, Springfield took a timeout and came out of it to take a two-point lead at 19-17 after an ace for Mulvaney. Timely kills from DesLauriers, Durivage and Levinson gave Springfield a 23-21 lead to force a Baruch timeout before a kill from Cutter gave the Pride the win, 25-22, to complete the sweep.
The Pride will head to Wentworth on Wednesday for a 6:00 pm match.
