Amherst, Mass. – March 25, 2026 – Facing its second straight ranked opponent, the Springfield College women's lacrosse team dropped a 20-4 decision to No. 5/8 Amherst College on Wednesday night on the road.

Amherst remained unbeaten at 7-0, while Springfield fell to 3-5. The Pride will return to conference play on Saturday at Coast Guard beginning at 12:00 pm.

Claire Ognibene (New Canaan, Conn.) recorded first hat trick of the season and third of her career as she tallied three of Springfield's goals on the night. Izzy Lalancette (Feeding Hills, Mass.) notched the other lone goal for the Pride. Sarah Newton (Colchester, Conn.), Molly Forrest (Wakefield, Mass.) and Hailey Gaydos (Newington, Conn.) all gathered four draw controls, while Gaydos led the Pride with two ground balls. Bridget Finley and Clara Sosa combined for nine goals and an assist for Amherst.

Amherst held the edge in shots (34-12) and ground balls (17-8) and went 18-for-19 on the clear. Springfield led 15-11 in draw controls and went 14-for-17 in transition. In net, Cedar Conrad (Amherst, Mass.) and Lindsay Hillemeir (Unionville, Conn.) combined for ten saves for Springfield.

Lalancette put Springfield ahead 1-0 just 1:27 into the game before Amherst answered with six straight goals never looking back to take the win. Before the first was up, Ognibene tallied her ninth goal of the season, but the Mammoths led 7-2 after one.

Amherst went on to outscore Springfield 13-2 over the final 45 minutes of the game, but Ognibene was able to score once in the second and once in the fourth to complete her first hat trick of the campaign.
