Beverly, Mass. - March 7, 2026 - The Springfield College women's lacrosse team was dealt a loss against Endicott in a Saturday afternoon matchup in Beverly, 15-10.
The Gulls improve to 2-0 overall while the Pride drop to 1-2 on the season.
Lily Johnson (Oceanside, N.Y.), Izzy Lalancette (Feeding Hills, Mass.) and Kristyn Vasselin (Hudson, Mass.) each notched two goals while Claire Ognibene (New Canaan, Conn.), Kaelynn Stringer (East Greenbush, N.Y.), Payton Imhof (Bay Shore, N.Y.) and Sarah Newton (Colchester, Conn.) had one apiece. Johnson, Hailey Gaydos (Newington, Conn.) and Molly Forrest (Wakefield, Mass.) each tallied three ground balls as Johnson also had three caused turnovers and Gaydos had three draw controls.
Lindsay Hillemeir (Unionville, Conn.) and Cedar Conrad (Amherst, Mass.) combined for nine saves between the pipes.
Endicott held the edge in shots (31-24) and ground balls (22-17) while Springfield led 17-10 in draw controls. Endicott went 16-for-25 on the clear while the Pride were 9-for-12 in transition.
The Gulls started the scoring quickly as Emerson Clark scored the first goal for Endicott less than three minutes into the game. About midway through the first, Forrest found Stringer who netted the equalizer for the Pride, but Endicott kept on the attack, scoring two consecutive goals under a minute after Springfield's goal. Imhof and Ognibene then found the back of the net as they scored the final two goals of the quarter to tie it up at three.
Endicott opened up the second quarter with six straight goals to make it 9-3 which be the eventual game changer for the Gulls. After Endicott's run, Vasselin scored two goals for Springfield - one coming from Olivia Zalinsky (Bethany, Conn.) - to bring it to 9-5 going into the halftime break.
In the lowest scoring quarter of the game, Johnson scored both goals for Springfield as the Gulls only scored one to lead 10-7 as the Pride went into the final quarter knowing they had work hard to get out of the deficit.
Despite the Pride scoring three goals in the fourth, Endicott continued to dominate the game as it scored five goals to take it 15-10. The Pride looked to have a shot as Lalancette and Newton combined for four points, scoring three goals within three minutes to bring them within three, but the Gulls held them scoreless for the final nine minutes of the game.
The Pride head to Trinity (Conn.) on Wednesday night for a 6:00 pm matchup.
