Springfield, Mass. – April 12, 2026 – The Springfield College women's tennis team wrapped up a busy weekend with its second win in as many days as the Pride defeated Salve Regina University, 6-1, in a New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) match on Sunday morning.
Springfield is now 8-4 overall and 4-1 in NEWMAC play, while Salve Regina dropped to 4-9, 1-4.
The Pride eased by the Seahawks in doubles play as
Kapom Vettayawaikoon (Phuket, Thailand) and
Natalia Peyon (Discovery Bay, Hong Kong) at No. 1 and
Erica Jud (Glen Head, N.Y.) and
Alysa Elliott (Gros-Islet, Saint Lucia) at No. 3 won by 6-0 scores. At No. 2,
Peyton Gaudreau (Branford, Conn.) and
Ava Shea (Belchertown, Mass.) won 6-2.
Gaudreau blanked Kaydin Pinto, 6-0, 6-0 at No. 1 singles to get things kicked off for the Pride. Vettayawaikoon followed it up with a 6-2, 6-1 win at No. 2 and Jud won 6-2, 6-0 at No. 3. Peyon was the final winner in straight sets at No. 6 as she topped Sadie Rieg, 6-2, 6-2.
At No. 4 and No. 5 Elliott and
Kelly McGoldrick (Monroe, N.Y.) both found themselves down a set. Elliott won the second 6-2 and the tie breaker 10-3. McGoldrick won her second set 6-4, but fell in the tiebreaker, 11-9, accounting for the 6-1 team score final today.
Springfield will head to nationally-ranked Smith for a NEWMAC match on Tuesday at 4:00 pm before having its senior day match on Thursday against Western New England.
