Women's Lacrosse Pours in 20 Goals in NEWMAC Victory at Emerson

Boston, Mass. – April 15, 2026 – The Springfield College women's lacrosse team recorded a season-high goal total tonight as the Pride rolled past Emerson College, 20-5, in a New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) contest on Wednesday night on Rotch Field.

Springfield is now 8-6 overall and 6-2 in NEWMAC play and has officially punched its ticket to the 2026 NEWMAC Championship Tournament which is slated to begin on Saturday, April 25.

Sarah Goldstein (Cheshire, Conn.) and Claire Ognibene (New Canaan, Conn.) led Springfield with five points apiece as Goldstein notched four goals and an assist, while Ognibene tallied one goal and four assists. Izzy Lalancette (Feeding Hills, Mass.)Lily Johnson (Oceanside, N.Y.) and Kristyn Vasselin (Hudson, Mass.) all chipped in with two goals apiece for the Pride. Goldstein also added a trio of ground balls and four draw controls to her stat line tonight, while Sarah Newton (Colchester, Conn.) ended the night with 13 draw controls to go along with a goal, an assist and two caused turnovers. In net, Cedar Conrad (Amherst, Mass.) made two saves in the first half before being relieved for Lindsay Hillemeir (Unionville, Conn.).

Ognibene connected with Johnson for back-to-back goals to start things off before both Liz Neri (XXX) and Lalancette scored playing a man-down for the 4-0 lead. Lalancette and Goldstein then combined to score five of the next six goals for the Pride as early in the second, Springfield led 11-1.

Springfield took an eventual 15-2 lead into halftime before outscoring Emerson, 5-3 in the second half en route to the 20-5 final.

As a team Springfield held the edge in shots (41-10), ground balls (24-12), draw controls (21-5) and went a perfect 10-for-10 on the clear.

Springfield will host Wellesley College on Saturday at noon on Stagg Field.
