New London, Conn. – April 18, 2026 – The Springfield College men's lacrosse team rolled past Coast Guard, 15-3, in New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) action on Saturday afternoon on the road.
Springfield improved to 9-5 overall and to 5-1 in NEWMAC play, while Coast Guard dropped to 3-9, 2-4.
Springfield's offense was powered by
Bryan Stensrud (LaGrangeville, N.Y.) and
Jake Degnan (Mahopac, N.Y.) as they both produced three goals and one assist for four points.
Brady Soldo (Shrewsbury, Mass.)also notched four points on a goal and three assists, while
Matt Webb (Northport, N.Y.) and
Nick Savastano (South Salem, N.Y.) both tallied two goals and an assist for three points.
Dominic Savastano (South Salem, N.Y.) scooped up six ground balls and won 13-of-22 face offs tonight, while
Reece Whitney (Chester, Conn.)and
Angus Oliveira (Little Compton, R.I.) both posted four caused turnovers.
As a team, Springfield held the edge in shots (57-26) and ground balls (27-14) and went 22-for-23 on the clear. In net,
Joseph Grenier (Cheshire, Conn.) made eight saves.
Soldo put Springfield ahead 1-0 less than two minutes in, but Coast Guard responded a few minutes later to knot the score. The Pride went on to score nine straight goals including one on the man-advantage midway through the second as Springfield took an 8-1 lead into the break.
Ryan Berkel (Sudbury, Mass.) tallied the first goal of the third off a feed from
Dominic Savastano and as they did in the first half, the Pride outscored the Bears, 7-2, over the final 30 minutes of play en route to the 15-3 final.
Springfield will host Salve Regina next Saturday for its final regular season game of 2026 on Stagg Field at 3:00 pm.
