Softball Takes Two on the Road at Emerson

Boston, Mass. – April 18, 2026 – The Springfield College softball team earned its 20th win of the season after sweeping Emerson College in a NEWMAC doubleheader on the road today. Not counting the COVID shortened seasons, Springfield has produced 20 or more wins in nine consecutive seasons.

Springfield won the first game 10-0 in five innings and the nightcap, 3-2, in eight. The Pride improved to 20-9 overall and to 10-4 in NEWMAC play, while Emerson fell to 3-17, 1-9.

Kate Katsetos (Brewster, N.Y.) and Madi Testo (Keene, N.H.) both recorded four hits in the doubleheader, while Haley Ball (Westbrook, Maine) and Reilly Hunter (Wallingford, Conn.0) both notched three RBI in the sweep. As a staff, Amelia DeRosa (Miller Place, N.Y.) and Julia Rimshnick (Staten Island, N.Y.) combined to allow just two runs and punched out eight.

Game One: Springfield 10, Emerson 0 (5 Inn.)

The Pride led 1-0 after three innings before exploding for nine runs in the top of the fourth. Springfield quickly loaded the bases before Brynlee Eckles (Ellington, Conn.) drove in Testo with a six pitch RBI walk. Taylor Falotico (Windsor, Conn.) drilled an infield single to score Emilia Santiago (West Hartford, Conn.) before Hunter cleared the bases with a three-run double.

Carissa Pecchia (Mamaroneck, N.Y.) plated both DeRosa and Hunter on a double to the gap before Testo came back up with an RBI single making the score 9-0. Ball drove in the final run of the frame on a sacrifice fly accounting for the 10-0 final.

In the circle, DeRosa struck out four and allowed just three hits in the five inning win as her record moved to 13-4 this spring.

Game Two: Springfield 3, Emerson 2 (8 Inn.)

The nightcap was a back and forth battle that went extras. Ball drove in both runs before extra innings as she plated Katsetos on a sacrifice fly in the first and then drew a bases loaded walk in the top of the sixth.

With Pecchia placed on second in the eighth, Katestos bunted her to third before Testo drove her in on a sac fly.

Rimshnick returned to the circle in the bottom of the eighth and struck out the final two batters to secure the sweep over the Lions.

Springfield will host Coast Guard on Friday in a NEWMAC twinbill beginning at 3:00 pm.
