Softball Splits With Manhattanville in a Nonconference Doubleheader

Springfield, Mass. - April 28, 2026 - The Springfield College softball team split with nonconference opponent Manhattanville in a Tuesday afternoon doubleheader on Potter Field.

The Pride move to 23-10 overall while the Valiants sit at 30-8 on the season.

Amelia DeRosa (Miller Place, N.Y.) went 5-for-7 over the two games with four RBI, three runs scored, a double and a triple while Taylor Falotico (Windsor, Conn.) and Kate Katsetos (Brewster, N.Y.) each notched three hits.

In the circle, DeRosa went the distance and got the win in the first game as she only allowed four hits and two runs to score while striking out four for her 14th win of the season.

Game 1: Springfield 5, Manhattanville 2

The Pride scored all five runs in the first two innings as Reilly Hunter (Wallingford, Conn.) led off the bottom of the first with a double before DeRosa reached base safely with a walk. Carissa Pecchia (Mamaroneck, N.Y.) then hit a single to center field to score Hunter before Madi Testo (Keene, N.H.) hit a sacrifice fly ball to bring in DeRosa.

DeRosa hit a double in the bottom of the second to bring in Falotico and was then brought in by a sacrifice fly from Pecchia as Springfield took a 5-0 lead.

The Valiants would score their only runs of the game in the top of the seventh as a strong first two innings for the Pride would be the difference maker for Springfield to get the win, 5-2.

Game 2: Manhattanville 6, Springfield 3

After the loss in game one, Manhattanville bounced back to score six runs between the third and fifth innings. Springfield had its only answer of the game in the bottom of the seventh when DeRosa and Katsetos teamed up to drive in three runs with two outs, but Tahlia Smith was able to retire the side to get the win, 6-3.

The Pride head to No. 15 WPI on Friday for the penultimate New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) doubleheader of the regular season.
