Springfield, Mass. — August 28, 2026 — With preseason camp in full swing on Alden Street, Springfield College football senior defensive lineman Tyler Sordillo (Hull, Mass.) has been named to the 2026 D3football.com Preseason All-America Third Team.
This marks the fourth selection for a Springfield College student-athlete in the past five seasons as Christian Hutra '23 G '24, Lou Cocozza '23 and Craig Connell '25 all earned the national recognition for the Pride. Sordillo was one of two Preseason All-America selections from the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) and only one of six student-athletes from the New England region that earned the honor this fall.
After a breakout junior season, Sordillo collected a plethora of honors including being named to the Associated Press Division III All-America Third Team, AFCA Division III All-America Second Team and New England Football Writers Division II/III All-New England Team while also receiving Defensive Athlete of the Year honors from both the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) and the NEWMAC.
Sordillo led the Springfield defense to one of its most dominant seasons in program history. Individually, he registered 11.5 sacks, 14.0 tackles for a loss and 56 total tackles, while as a team Springfield ranked among the best in Division III allowing just 13.3 points per game, 216.3 total yards per game and 71.3 rushing yards per game.
The Pride will open up its 2026 season on Friday, September 4 at 7:00 pm on Stagg Field against Western New England for the 13th edition of the Pynchon SAW Game.
