Springfield, Mass. - September 22, 2026 - The Springfield College women's soccer team fell to nationally-ranked No. 7 Wesleyan (Conn.), 3-1, Tuesday night on Brock-Affleck Field.
The Cardinals improve to 6-1 overall, while the Pride drop to 1-6 on the season.Â
Wesleyan opened the scoring in the first half when Kerenza Leahey found the back of the net with less than fifteen minutes remaining before the halftime break. Maria Utz was credited with the assist as the Cardinals took a 1-0 lead into the break.
Springfield responded early in the second half as Katie McFerran (Selkirk, N.Y.) scored in the 55th minute to even the contest at 1-1.
The Cardinals regained the lead just over six minutes later when Sheridan Snow scored off an assist from Rachel Katz before Wesleyan added an insurance goal from Utz at 71:32 to make it a 3-1 contest.
Springfield goalkeeper Mairead Marsden (Amsterdam, N.Y.) made six saves in 68 minutes of action, while Gracie DeRing (Portland, Conn.) played the final 22 minutes. Wesleyan outscored the Pride 27-7 and held an 8-5 edge in corner kicks.Â
The Pride return to action on Saturday as they host Smith at 7:00 pm on Brock-Affleck Field.
