Springfield, Mass. — September 26, 2026 — The Springfield College women's soccer team defeated New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) opponent Smith, 3-0, on Saturday afternoon.
Springfield improves to 2-5 overall and 1-1 in the NEWMAC while Smith drops to 0-7-1, 0-2.
Jessica Perry (Middleboro, Mass.) led Springfield with a goal and assist while Marissa Sanford (Newington, Conn.) and Reese Croutworst (Halifax, Vt.) also scored. Mallory Forgatch (Palm Beach Gardens, Fla.) had four saves in the win as Springfield outshot Smith 22-6 and held an 8-1 edge in corners.
The Pride scored three minutes into the game Ella Hoffenberg (Andover, Mass.) passed the ball off to Sanford at the top of the box and she was able to put one past the goalkeeper to take the early lead.
In the 68th minute, Perry crossed the ball and Croutworst was able to convert to give the Pride some insurance before Perry found the back of the net with less than two minutes to play for the 3-0 win
The Pride will play nonconfernce opponent Endicott on Tuesday at 4:00 pm.
