Worcester, Mass. — September 26, 2026 — The Springfield College women's volleyball team defeated WPI on Saturday afternoon, 3-1, in a New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) matchup.

The Pride improve to 10-2 overall and 2-0 in the conference while the Engineers drop to 6-7, 0-1.

Jodi Saelua (Mililani, Hawaii) led Springfield offensively, hitting .395 with an impressive 19 kills and three blocks. Tori Colosimo (Fairport, N.Y.) also registered a double-double with 50 assists, 11 digs and five kills.

The Pride took an early lead highlighted by four straight kills to make it 9-4 before the Engineers started to chip away to make it 11-8. Springfield responded quickly as a service error sparked a 6-0 run that was capped by a block from Alexa Bonato (Woodbridge, Conn.) and Saelua to extend the lead, 17-8. Springfield scored the final three points of the game and Urissa Stephens (Spicewood, Tx.) sealed the win with a kill, 25-15.

Two kills each from Saelua and James allowed Springfield to jump out to an early lead before WPI answered with four straight points as well to make it even at four. Both teams continued to chip away, returning points back-and-forth as a kill from James capped a 5-0 run to take a 20-16 point lead. The Pride once again scored the final three points of the match as a service ace from Caroline Burg (Vernon, Conn.) led Springfield to the 25-21 win.

Springfield held the early lead again in the third set, but WPI battled to get back into the game, going on an 11-1 run to take an 18-16 lead. A block from Bonato gave the Pride the lead 21-20 but the Engineers went on to dominate, scoring the final five points of the game to force a fourth set.

The fourth set saw a lot of back-and-forth between both squads as Springfield finally gained a lead that they would not relinquish at the 20th point. James sparked four straight points to take the 23-19 lead and an attack error from the Engineer solidified the win for the Pride, 25-23.
