Springfield, Mass. – September 26, 2026 – Following a strong defensive performance against MIT, Springfield College seniors Tyler Sordillo (Hull, Mass.) and Nick Gonzalez (Parsippany, N.J.) were recognized by D3football.com as members of the National Team of the Week.

Sordillo led the Pride defensively in Springfield's 19-13 victory over MIT as he recorded eight tackles, including four solo stops, and a sack. The senior also made an impact on special teams, blocking an extra-point attempt in the conference-opening victory.

Gonzalez also played a critical role in the win, coming up with a blocked field goal late in the fourth quarter. With MIT threatening to take a three-point lead with less than two minutes remaining, the senior blocked the attempt, allowing Will Aviles to scoop up the loose ball and return it for a touchdown to give Springfield the 19-13 victory.

Dating back to 1999, D3football.com National Team of the Week recognizes the top individual performance at each position, drawn from nominations provided by schools. This marks the 32nd time that Springfield College football has been honored. 

Springfield is set to travel to Salve Regina on Saturday for a 12:00 pm kickoff. The Pride enter this week with a record of 3-1 overall and a mark of 1-0 in NEWMAC play.
