Springfield, Mass. - September 29, 2026 - The Springfield College men's soccer team defeated Worcester State, 3-2, on Tuesday night on Brock-Affleck Field.
 
The Pride improve to 3-5-1 overall, while the Lancers fall to 2-5-1 on the season.
 
Connor Policarpio (Briston, Conn.) led the way offensively for Springfield, scoring twice, including the game-winning goal, while Cooper Kassan (Huntington, N.Y.) added a goal as well. Policarpio now leads the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) in goals with five on the season, and also ranks first in points with 12. Kassan is tied for second in the conference with four goals this year.
 
Springfield struck first with just over 10 minutes remaining in the opening half. Cooper Harmon (Wall, N.J.) found Kassan, who finished to give the Pride a 1-0 advantage in the 35th minute. Springfield carried the one-goal lead into halftime after holding Worcester State scoreless through the opening 45 minutes.
 
The Lancers quickly leveled the score in the second half, tying the game 1-1 in the 57th minute. Springfield answered in the 72nd minute when a corner kick from Evan Memoli (Barrington, R.I.) was headed in by Policarpio to put the Pride back in front, 2-1. Just under three minutes later, Policarpio struck again, netting a rebounded shot to extend Springfield's lead to 3-1. Worcester State responded with a penalty kick in the 81st minute, but the Pride's defense held firm over the final minutes to secure the 3-2 victory.
 
Springfield outshot Worcester State, 22-11, while holding a 7-4 advantage in shots on goal. The Pride also earned six corner kicks compared to seven for the Lancers. Tommy Fenton (East Hampton, Conn.) made two saves to earn the victory in goal.
 
The Pride return to NEWMAC play on Saturday at home against MIT at 1:00 pm.
