Norton, Mass. – November 20, 2010 – The Springfield College women’s swimming & diving team continues to do extremely well in the early part of the season as it today defeated both host Wheaton College, 187-112, and Keene State, 206-93.
Springfield had several outstanding individual performances as it picked up the pair of victories. Aimee Doe had a pair of individual wins on the afternoon as she took the 200 free in 1:58.85 and the 500 free with a 5:20.60. Kellie Pennington sprinted to victory in the 50 free with a 23.72 and out-touched the competition in the 100 fly for a win in 59.55.
Meghan Sisson cruised to victory in the 1,000 free with a time of 11:00.58, while the 200 fly saw Meredith Trumbull place second in 2:13.62. Trumbull was also victorious in the 400 IM after touching in at 4:49.34.
In the diving events, Springfield dominated as it swept the top three spots on both boards. On the one-meter Jennifer Thompson’s 244.70 was good enough for first, followed by Courtney Keefe’s 241.30, and Kyra Breitweister’s 207.65. Thompson also won the three-meter with a 232.60, followed by Keefe (230.75) and Breitweister (218.55).
The Pride’s busy weekend continues on Sunday afternoon when it returns home to take on Middlebury at 1:00 pm the Art Linkletter Natatorium.
