Emma Savoie Leads Women's Swimming and Diving on Day Three of NEWMAC Championships

Cambridge, Mass. – February 21, 2026 – The Springfield College women's swimming and diving team continued its journey through the 2026 New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Championships on Saturday night in Cambridge.

Through three days in the pool, Springfield sits in eighth place with 222 points. MIT leads with 1079 points, Coast Guard is second with 528 points and Wellesley is in third with 464 points. Babson and Wheaton round out the top five with 353 and 352 points, respectively.

Avery Van Tassel (Bay Shore, N.Y.) and Erica Kerner (Cherry Hill, N.J.) represented Springfield in the consolation finals of the 400-IM. Van Tassel notched a time of 4:55.08 for 16th, while Kerner posted a 4:57.93 for 18th.

Emma Savoie (Milford, Conn.) had the best individual finish for the Pride tonight taking eighth in the 200-free in 1:57.93, while Lizzy McMahon (Rensselaer, N.Y.) posted a 14th place finish in the 100-back in 1:00.36. Natalie Norbut (Bristol, Conn.) posted a 16th place finish in the 100-breast in 1:09.89, while Katherine Wade (Sturbridge, Mass.) notched a 26th place finish in the 100-fly in 1:08.32 to round out the individual highlights tonight.

The "A" 200-medley relay of McMahon, Van Tassel, Wade and Kianna Riera (Cranford, N.J.) finished ninth with a swim of 1:56.70, while in the "B" final Ally Burnett (Rochester, N.Y.)Paige Levine (Holtsville, N.Y.), Kerner and Amanda Fagnani (West Haven, Conn.) finished 20th in 2:01.58.

Springfield will return to the pool tomorrow at 10:00 am for the final day of the NEWMAC Championships. All events will be swam as timed finals due to the impending snow storm. Events scheduled include the 200-back, 100-free, 200-breast, 200-fly, 1650-free, 3-meter dive and 400-free relay.
