Cambridge, Mass. – February 22, 2026 – The Springfield College women's swimming and diving team concluded competition at the 2026 New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Championships on Sunday afternoon on the campus of MIT.
The host Engineers won the meet, while Springfield finished eighth overall in the field of ten teams with a total of 363 points.
Note that today's session was swam as all timed finals due to the impending blizzard in Massachusetts. No preliminary heats were contested.
Springfield placed three in the top-15 of the 1650-free highlighted by
Kylie Nordenstrom's (Blaine, Minn.)tenth place finish in 18:37.74.
Ally Burnett (Rochester, N.Y.) and
Paige Levine (Holtsville, N.Y.) closely followed with times of 18:52.62 and 19:00.87, respectively.
Lizzy McMahon (Rensselaer, N.Y.) and
Emma Savoie (Milford, Conn.) placed back-to-back in the 200-back as McMahon clocked a 2:13.95 for 16th, while Savoie notched a 2:14.13 for 17th.
Natalie Norbut (Bristol, Conn.) was Springfield's top finisher in the 100-free as she posted a time of 55.58, while
Avery Van Tassel (Bay Shore, N.Y.) was Springfield's top finisher in the 200-breast with a time of 2:38.50, while
Erica Kerner (Cherry Hill, N.J.) paced the Pride in the 200-fly in 2:20.63.
McMahon, Norbut,
Kianna Riera (Cranford, N.J.) and Savoie teamed up for an eighth place finish in the championship final of the 400-free relay with a time of 3:43.55, while in the consolation final Levine, Burnett, Nordenstrom and
Katherine Wade (Sturbridge, Mass.) combined for a time of 3:55.39.
Elizabeth Santos (Chicopee, Mass.) posted a fourth place finish on the 3-meter board with a score of 422.80 and was followed in seventh by
Bridgette Hogan (Marshfield, Mass.) with a 404.75 and
McKenzie Aparo (Bristol, Conn.) with a 401.80. All three will head to regionals next weekend.
Springfield's divers will now turn their attention to the NCAA Regional Qualifying meet which is scheduled to start on Friday on the campus of Connecticut College in New London.
