Orlando, Fla. – March 17, 2010 – The Springfield College women’s tennis team dropped a 9-0 decision to Berry College from Georgia in the Pride’s second match of its Spring Break trip on Wednesday.
The Lady Vikings improve to 5-0 with the win and have not lost a match at singles or doubles this season. Springfield is now 1-10 overall, including the fall season, and 0-2 on this southern swing to Orlando.
Berry led 3-0 following the doubles portion of the match. Kendal Ruffner and Stephanie Herz won 8-1 at No. 1 doubles, as did Barbara Tomai and Marina Lebrao at the No. 2 spot. Kirstin Ruffner and Jennifer Tinnell won at No. 3 doubles to complete the sweep.
Both Herz and Kendal Ruffner won 6-1, 6-0 at No. 2 and No. 3 singles respectively. Lebrao also won at No. 1 singles, 6-0, 6-2.
Springfield will play twice on Thursday — against Augustana at 9 am, then again versus Connecticut College at 6:30 pm, to conclude the trip to Florida .
