Springfield, Mass. — April 14, 2011 — The Springfield College men’s tennis team fell to Connecticut College, 9-0, under sunny skies this afternoon at the Appleton Courts in non-conference play.
The SC player who fought the hardest was senior Eric Henne (Bristol, Conn.), who lost to freshman Will Tucker (London, England) by a score of 5-7, 6-1, 6-2.
Otherwise, the remaining scores all came by straight sets.
For the Camels, senior Trevor Prophet won at No. 1 singles over sophomore Ben Burnap (Westerly, R.I.), 6-2, 6-3.
At No. 2, junior Jeff Weisberger defeated junior Doug Nickerson (Falmouth, Me.), 6-2, 6-1.
Connecticut College swept the doubles matches, no worse than 8-3, giving the Camels a quick 3-0 lead.
Conn College is now 9-7, while SC falls to 3-4.
Springfield hosts NEWMAC conference power MIT this Saturday at 1 pm at the Appleton Courts.
