New York, N.Y. – January 14, 2012 – Despite three individual wins from Kellie Pennington and Jennifer Thompson sweeping the diving competition, the Springfield College women’s swimming and diving team fell on the road at NYU on Saturday, 147-123.

Pennington won the 200 in 1:57.93, breezed past the competition in the 100 free in 53.56, and took first the 200 IM in 2:13.65.

Springfield opened up the meet with a win in the 200 medley relay as Kelsey Poole, Pennington, Kaitlin Reilly, and Caroline Kosciusko combined to swim a 1:54.22.

Reilly was victorious in the 200 fly with a time of 2:18.54, and placed second in the 100 fly in 1:01.58. In addition, Janella Cuyler edged the competition in the 100 breast in 1:11.20 Meghan Sisson placed second in the 1,650 free in 18:15.74 and the 500 free in 5:21.25. Other top performances included Poole, who took second in the 200 back with a time of 2:15.03, and Jennifer Carignan, who was a runner-up in the 200 breast with a 2:34.55.

In the diving competition, Thompson and Courtney Keefe placed first and second on both boards. Thompson swept the competition again, winning the one-meter with a score of 262.56, and taking the three-meter with a 271.35. Keefe placed second on the one-meter with a 258.75 before scoring a 264 on the three-meter.

The Pride closed out the meet with a second-place finish in the 400 free relay after Reilly, Amanda Shaw, Jaclyn Van Waalwijk, and Kosciusko touched in 3:43.42.
