Springfield, Mass. — October 6, 2012 — Led by Alex Freeman and Sarah Whitaker, the Babson women’s tennis team defeated Springfield, 9-0, this afternoon at the Julius Appleton Courts. The Beavers won all singles matches in straight sets.
The Pride is now 4-3 overall, and 1-3 in the NEWMAC. Babson, meanwhile, is 6-1 overall, 3-1 in the conference.
Freeman, a sophomore from Medfield, Mass., defeated SC senior Sam Carney (Franklin, Mass.), 6-2, 6-2.
Whitaker, a junior from Dellwood, Minn., defeated senior Siana Green (Pomfret, Conn.), by the same scores.
Babson had taken a 3-0 lead following doubles play.
Up next for the Pride is a road match at Clark at 4 pm Tuesday, Oct. 9.
