Springfield, Mass. — March 31, 2012 — The Cark University men’s tennis team defeated Springfield College in each team’s New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference opener this afternoon at the Springfield College Field House. The match was played indoors due to overcast and rainy weather.
With the win, Clark is now 8-1 overall, 1-0 in the NEWMAC, while Springfield falls to 4-7 overall, and 0-1 in the conference.
Diego Angel, a junior from Lima, Peru, defeated SC freshman Kyle Mersereau (Brunswick, Me.), 6-1, 6-4, at No. 1 singles. Clark won all three matches in singles that went to completion.
SC’s only win came at No. 2 doubles as Mersereau and junior Ben Burnap (Westerly, R.I.) were victorious, 9-7.
