Springfield, Mass – October 12, 2013 - The Springfield College women’s tennis team fell to visiting Wellesley, 9-0 on Saturday.
Springfield’s doubles team of Sydney Streimer (Mystic, Conn.) and Alanna Grady (Springfield, Mass.) played well against Wellesley’s Kendall Tada (Hilo, Hawaii) and Sam Stone (Greenwich, Conn.). Tada and Stone edged Streimer and Grady, 8-5.
Sojung Lee (Seoul, Korea) led Wellesley with a 6-1, 6-0 win in No. 1 singles. Andjela Stojkovic (Victoria, British Columbia) won second singles, 6-2, 6-1, Lina Ye (Milpitas, Calif.) took the 6-2, 6-2 singles win and Tada won 6-3, 6-2. Dasha Kostikina (Action, Mass.) and Caroline Dickensheets (Alpharetta, Ga.) tallied singles wins of 6-1, 6-1 and 6-1, 6-3, respectively.
Wellesley’s Lee and Carina Chen (Hong Kong) won their doubles match up, 8-2 while Ye and Stojkovic won 8-0.
Springfield falls to 6-5 (3-5 NEWMAC) with the loss while Wellesley improves to 8-2 overall and 7-1 in the conference.
