Springfield, Mass. – November 16, 2013 - The Springfield College women’s swimming and diving team were victorious at a tri-meet in the Art Linketter Natatorium on Saturday afternoon with Keene State and Wheaton. The Pride breezed past Wheaton, 214-74, and defeated Keene State, 160-133.
Kellie Pennington (Monson, Mass.) won three individual events to lead the way as she captured the 200 free in 1:58.39, was victorious in the 50 free with a 24.52, and touched first in the 100 free in 53.74.
The Pride opened the meet with a win in the 200 medley relay, with Kelsey Poole (Westfield, Mass.), Emily Medeiros (Wakefield, Mass.), Christiana Greco (Wilbraham, Mass.), and Mary Masayda (Watertown, Conn.) with a time of 1:51.80.
In the 1000 freestyle, Callie Phillips (East Longmeadow, Mass.) took first clocking in at 10:48.98. Phillips also went on to place first in the 500 free after touching in 5:15.51.
Emily Medeiros (Wakefield, Mass.) placed first in both breaststrokes, with a time of 1:08.43 in the 100 and 2:30.74 in the 200.
Christiana Greco (Wilbraham, Mass.) picked up a win in the 100 butterfly with a time of 59.10. Phillips touched first in the 200 yard IM in 2:13.30.
Poole swam a second-place time of 2:14.14 in the 200 back, and Greco touched second in the 200 butterfly in 2:15.44.
Springfield was dominant on both the one-meter and three-meter boards. The Pride took the first three spots on both boards, led by Jennifer Thompson (Cheshire, Conn.). Thompson took first on the one-meter board with a national qualifying score of 280.90, followed by Morgan KitzmillerÂ's (Dover, Pa.) national qualifying score of 268.05, and Melanie Avdoulos (East Longmeadow, Mass.) at 254.95. Thompson was also victorious on the three-meter at a 305.70 national qualifying mark.
The Pride closed out the meet with the fastest time in the 400 free relay as Masayda, Delaney Dyjak (Ludlow, Mass.), Phillips, and Pennington combined with a 3:39.53.
