Springfield, Mass. – November 2, 2013 – The Springfield College women’s swimming and diving team split a tri-meet in the Art Linketter Natatorium on Saturday afternoon with Coast Guard and URI. The Pride breezed past Coast Guard, 238-58, but was edged by URI, 150-149.
Kellie Pennington (Monson, Mass.) won three individual events to lead the way as she captured the 200 free in 1:57.93, was victorious in the 50 free with a 24.12, and touched first in the 100 free in 52.92.
Callie Phillips (East Longmeadow, Mass.) touched first in the 400 IM with a time of 4:46.76 and also took second in the 200 free with a 1:58.94. In the 200 breast, Emily Medeiros (Wakefield, Mass.), produced a winning time of 2:30.16 while she also took second in the 100 breast in 1:08.70. Kelsey Poole (Westfield, Mass.) swam a second-place time of 2:14.88 in the 200 back, and Delaney Dyjak (Ludlow, Mass.) touched second in the 50 free in 25.41.
In the one-meter diving competition, Jennifer Thompson (Cheshire, Conn.) took first with a 241.75, followed by Morgan Kitzmiller’s (Dover, Pa.) 239.80. On the three-meter board, Thompson was once again victorious with a 252.15, followed by Kitzmiller’s markd of 234.80.
Christiana Greco (Wilbraham, Mass.) claimed first in the 100 fly in 59.54, followed closely by Dyjak’s second-place time of 1:00.33. Also, Ashleigh Monore (Southbury, Conn.) posted a time of 11:05.36 to finish second in 1,000 free.
The Pride closed out the meet with a win in the 200 free relay as Pennington, Greco, Mary Masayda (Watertown, Conn.) and Dyjak combined out-touched URI with a 1:38.33.
Next Saturday, the Pride will square off with rival MIT at 1:00 pm.
