Springfield, Mass.-November 15, 2014- The Springfield College women's swimming and diving team split at a tri-meet in the Art Linkletter Natatorium on Saturday afternoon with Keene State and Wheaton. The Pride stormed past Wheaton 200-94 and were defeated by Keene State 160-138.
The 200 medley relay team of Christiana Greco (Wilbraham, Mass.), Alyssa Carle (Franklin, Mass.), Delaney Dyjak (Ludlow, Mass.) and Nicole Scotto (Southbury, Conn.) touched second in 1:52.60. Kassandra Lamb (Reading, Mass.) followed with a second place finish in the 1000 freestyle (11.01.35), while Callie Phillips (East Longmeadow, Mass.) lead the way in the 200 freestyle with a time of 1:58.46.
Emily Medeiros (Wakefield, Mass.) was victorious in the 100 breaststroke (1:08.05) for Springfield, and also landed a spot in the top three in the 200 breaststroke with a time of 2:29.86.
Greco was the top finisher in both the 100 and 200 butterfly as she cruised in at 58.80 and 2:13.53.
Morgan Kitzmiller (Dover, Pa.) and Melanie Avdoulos (East Longmeadow, Mass.) continued to perform strong in the diving events. Kitzmiller landed first for both events with national qualifying scores of 259.20 on the one-meter and 288.90 on the three-meter. Avdoulos also qualified for nationals after she posted a 257.65 on the one-meter board.
The Pride head to Williamstown Friday November 21st to take on Williams College in a 6:00 pm contest.
