Springfield, Mass. – September 13, 2014 – The Springfield College women's tennis team was defeated by Wheaton College, 6-3, in New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) play on Saturday.

Springfield's No. 3 doubles team of Rachel Litchfield (Northbridge, Mass.) and Stephani Post (Westford, Mass.) captured an 8-6 victory as the Pride headed into singles competition trailing 2-1. 

In singles, Litchfield was also victorious at the No. 5 spot, winning 6-3, 6-2, while Kelsey Whelpley (Mastic Beach, N.Y.) notched a 6-3, 7-6 win at No. 6 singles.

Springfield returns home on Sunday to take on conference foe MIT.
