Senior goalkeeper Lucy Gillett (Rockville Center, N.Y.) finished the contest with five saves, while her counterpart, Lauren Ullman (Princeton, N.J.) finished with three saves and the victory for the Engineers.
With just under 25 minutes remaining in the contest, MIT junior forward forward Morgan Moroi (New Albany, Ohio) drilled a pass up the field to the freshman forward Olivia Struckman (Scottsdale, Ariz.) who was in a foot race with Springfield goalkeeper, Lucy Gillett (Rockville Center, N.Y.) to get to the ball first. With 7:58 left in the game, junior forward Jessica Miller (Southbury, Conn.) broke down the right side of the field with the ball and after beating her defender to the ball, sent a high-lofting cross to Fowler waiting on the back side of the net to head the ball into the net, cutting the Pride's deficit in half.
