Josh Sullivan Hired as Springfield College Women's Soccer Full-Time Assistant Coach

Springfield, Mass. – April 3, 2026 – Springfield College Director of Athletics, Dr. Craig Poisson, is pleased to announce that Josh Sullivan has been named as the full-time assistant coach for the Springfield College women's soccer program.

"In addition to Josh's playing experience at the NCAA Division III level, his soccer coaching path includes an impressive track record of developing young women through youth soccer," said Poisson. "I look forward to Coach Sullivan's immediate impact on our young women on the pitch."

Sullivan has served as a volunteer assistant coach with the Springfield College women's soccer program over the past two seasons and had helped the Pride to 14 conference wins and to runner-up finishes in both the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Championship Tournament and the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Championship Tournament.

"Josh has poured so much into this program over the past few years and has proven to be an invaluable member of our coaching staff," said Springfield College women's soccer head coach Kursten Shade. "I couldn't be more excited to have him in a permanent role moving forward. His work ethic, knowledge of the game, and genuine love for Springfield College will continue to positively impact our student-athletes every day."

Outside of Springfield, Sullivan has served in coaching roles with the Connecticut Football Club (CFC) of the Elite Clun National League (ECNL) developing student-athletes who have gone on to compete at all three NCAA Divisions. His teams have also won four Connecticut State Cup Championships and have made three appearances at the regional championships. He also worked as the Goalkeeper Coach at Suffield Academy and was a member of the 2021 New England Preparatory School Athletic Council (NEPSAC) Class B Girls Championship staff.

"I'm honored to be selected as the Assistant Coach for Springfield College Women's Soccer team working with Coach Kursten Shade," said Sullivan. "With my grandfather (Dan Sullivan '60) and close family friend (Tom Gaffney '88), Springfield has always been a part of my life and ultimately why I chose to attend in 2008. I'm grateful for the opportunity to carry forward the proud tradition on Alden Street, supporting our athletes' growth in spirit, mind and body."

Outside of soccer, Sullivan has worked for CareCentrix in Hartford since 2012. He graduated from Westfield State University in 2012 with a degree in business management after spending his first year of his collegiate career at Springfield College playing on the men's soccer team in 2008.
