Brendon Boates '01 Departs as Assistant Women's Soccer Coach to Take Head Coaching Position at Colby-Sawyer

Springfield, Mass. – January 19, 2026 – After three seasons on Alden Street as the assistant coach for the Springfield College women's soccer program, Brendon Boates '01 has stepped down from his position to take the role of head women's soccer coach at Colby-Sawyer College in New Hampshire.

"While I am extremely excited about my new career opportunity, I am also incredibly sad to be leaving a place that I've considered a second home since my days as an undergraduate student," said Boates. "The lessons I learned at Springfield College have guided me throughout my professional career, and in many ways have made me the coach I am today. I will remember our on field accomplishments fondly, but more than anything, I will remember the joy, the smiles, and the laughter I shared with our amazing student-athletes."

Boates, who spent the 2024 season at the helm of the Springfield College women's soccer program, helped the team to 29 wins overall and to 20 victories in New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) play. The Pride also made three appearances in the NEWMAC Tournament including earning a spot in the 2025 NEWMAC final for the first time since the 2021 season.

"We are grateful for the dedication and impact Coach Boates has had on our women's soccer program and student-athletes during his time at Springfield College," said Director of Athletics Craig Poisson. "In three seasons on Alden Street, he has been a valued member of our staff, and we wish him nothing but success as he takes this next step in his coaching career at Colby-Sawyer College."

In 2024, under the direction of Boates, the Pride made their way to the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Division III Championship match for the fifth time in program history and for the first time since 2019 as Springfield totaled 10 wins on the year.

"Every SCWS player I had the pleasure of coaching is now part of my extended family, and I will miss them tremendously. I want to thank Coach Cannon and Dr. Poisson for welcoming me back to SC in 2023, and I wish the program nothing but success in the years to come. I may not be on the Pride bench this fall, but I will remain a Springfield College Women's Soccer super fan for life!"

Boates is a former member of the Springfield College men's soccer team and earned his Bachelor's Degree from Springfield College in 2001.
