Cambridge, Mass. - September 13, 2015 - The Springfield College women's tennis program dropped a 9-0 decision to No. 9 MIT on Sunday afternoon at the Carr Tennis Bubble. With the loss, Springfield drops its third-straight conference match and is now 0-3, while the nationally-ranked Engineers are now 3-0 overall and 3-0 in New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) play.
Both Stephanie Foster (Woodbridge, Conn.) and Melissa Parrish (Framingham, Mass.) were both able to steal a point in the No. 2 and No. 3 singles slots, respectively, while in the No. 1 doubles match, Rachel London (Port Jefferson, N.Y.) and Foster took a point from Elysa Kohrs and Victoria Tam. Sophomore Rachel Litchfield (Nortbridge, Mass.) dropped the first set 6-3, before falling to Tam in the second, 6-0.
Up next, Springfield will play Emerson at Babson College on Saturday, Sept. 19 at 1 p.m.
