Dudley, Mass. - September 17, 2015 - The Springfield College men's tennis program fell to Nichols College, 6-3, on Thursday evening at the Robinson Tennis Courts. Being its first contest of the 2015-16 season, the Pride begin the season 0-1, while the Bison improve to 1-0 on the year.
Springfield took the No. 1 and No. 2 singles slot handily, as in the No. 1 slot, Tanner DeVarennes (Lee, Mass.) and Justin Danielewicz (Portland, Conn.) defeated James Smith (Monte Serino, Calif.) and Igor Markowski, 8-5, before Kyle Beynor (Prospect, Conn.) and Court Honda (Marioka, Japan) defeated Blake Norton and Kirill Ivanov, 8-6.
In the No. 1 singles slot, DeVarennes was the lone member of the Pride to emerge from a singles match victorious, as he defeated Norton, 6-2, 7-5. Up next, Springfield will travel to the Connecticut College Tournament on Saturday, September 19.
