Springfield got on the board first, when junior forward Amanda Calzolano (Levittown, N.Y.) picked up a loose ball at the top of the box after a throw in from Nicole Fowler (Hudson, Mass.) and hit a high-arching shot over the head of Kubik, that dropped into the net to give the Pride an early 1-0 edge just 2:41 into the contest.
With 4:47 remaining in the opening stanza, Springfield added to its lead, as Elizabeth Monsen (Wayne, N.J.) took a free kick from the left sideline, which was redirected by Monique Marcelino (Farmington, Conn.), only to find the foot of Kim Quiles (Poughkeepsie, N.Y.), who finished the chance into the empty net to give the Pride a 2-0 lead heading into the halftime break.
Springfield eventually would extend its lead to three, as a cross sent in by Fowler found the foot of senior forward Krissy Cicalis (Bridgewater, Mass.) who tapped a pass to sophomore midfielder Dakota Kelly (Bethany, Conn.) at the top of the box, who received the ball and curled a shot into the left side of the net to give the Pride a 3-0 lead with 33:29 left in the contest.
Springfield was able to hold off the Golden Bears for the remainder of the contest, sealing the shut-out victory. Up next, Springfield will return to Brock-Affleck Field on Saturday, as the Pride will host UMass-Dartmouth at 1:30 p.m.
