Women's Tennis Has Six-Match Winning Streak Snapped at Mount Holyoke

South Hadley, Mass. - October 4, 2016 - The Springfield College women's tennis team had its six-match winning streak on Tuesday in New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) play after dropping an 8-1 decision to Mount Holyoke. 

The loss drops Springfield's record to 6-4, 3-4 in conference play, as it had its longest winning streak since 1996 halted.  

Cara Freadman (Richmond, Mass.) picked up Springfield's only point of the afternoon after she posted a 6-2, 6-1 win at the No. 5 spot. 

In doubles play, Springfield's No. 3 team of Rachel Litchfield (Northbridge, Mass.) and Nicole Piazza (Portland, Conn.) had the Pride's best showing with a 8-6 setback.

Springfield will hit the courts again on Saturday when it plays its final NEWMAC match of the regular season at Wellesley beginning at 1 pm.
