Orlando, Fla. - March 17, 2016 - The Springfield College men's tennis team grinded out a 5-4 win over Hamilton on Thursday morning to pick up its second win of its spring break trip to Florida.
The Pride put together a tremendous team performance en route to a gritty victory over Hamilton. The Pride's No. 1 doubles team of Tanner DeVarennes (Lee, Mass.) and Justin Danielewicz (Portland, Conn.) cruised to an 8-2 victory, while Court Honda (Marioka, Japan) and Alex Romaine (Stamford, Conn.) added an 8-2 win of their own at the No. 2 spot to give Springfield a 2-1 lead after doubles play.
In singles play, the Pride earned wins at the top three spots en route to the 5-4 win. DeVarennes continued to roll with a 6-1, 6-0 at at No. 1, Romaine added a 6-4, 7-5 at at No. 2, and Honda eased his way to a 6-4, 6-1 victory at No. 3 for Springfield.
The Pride will be back in action on Thursday when it clashes with Scranton at 6:30 pm.
