Zirna and Dieker Earn All-America Honors in Individual Events at 2016 USAG Championships

Springfield, Mass. - March 26, 2016 - The Springfield College men's gymnastics team had four student-athletes compete for individual titles at the 2016 USA Gymnastics Men's Collegiate Championships on Saturday afternoon in Blake Arena. 

After earning All-America honors in the all-around on Friday night, standout senior Jon Zirna (East Amherst, N.Y.) earned his second and third All-America honors of the weekend on the pommel horse and parallel bars events. On the pommel, Zirna posted a score of 14.750 to beome the national runner-up, just behind Air Force's Tim Wang (Riverside, Calif.). On the parallel bars, Zirna took sixth after a 13.925 performance. 

Sophomore Joshua Dieker (Oveida, Fla.) earned his second-career All-America honor on the rings, placing sixth with a score of 13.750, while junior Nick Jama (Westfield, Mass.) started out the competition with a score of 13.800 on the floor to claim seventh place. 

Senior Tucker McClure (San Jose, Calif.) qualified for a team-best three individual events, including the vault, high bars and pommel horse. The senior registered a score of 14.175 to capture seventh in the vault, while he posted scores of 13.225 and 12.500 in the high bars and pommel horse, respectively. 

Springfield will compete next weekend in the ECAC/EIGL Championships at William & Mary during April 2nd and 3rd.
