Springfield, Mass. - August 20, 2025 - The Springfield College men's gymnastics program was honored for its exceptional work in the classroom as the Pride finished third overall in the National Academic Team Championship standings as announced by the College Gymnastics Association (CGA).
As a team, the Pride earned a 3.6276 cumulative grade point average and was ranked higher than schools such as Penn State, Michigan, and Nebraska.
There were 12 student-athletes from Springfield individually recognized by the CGA, as they were each named All-America Scholar Athletes. Of the honorees, 11 student-athletes were named First Team All-America Scholar Athletes for posting a GPA of 3.5 or better, while one was named to the Second Team for posting a GPA over 3.2.
The student-athletes who garnered First Team All-America Scholar Athlete honors were
Matt Browne (Decatur, Ga.),
Owen Carney (Sterling, Mass.),
Carter Cochardo (Cicero, N.Y.),
Devon Felsenstein (Blue Bell, Pa.),
Felix Kriedemann (Strasslach, Germany),
Jaden Laubstain (Oakland, Calif.),
Gio Mantia (Aurora, Ill.),
Kojiro Motoki (Paramus, N.J.),
Evan Reichert (Oswego, Ill.),
Cameron Rhymes (Joliet, Ill.), and
Gustavin Suess (Portland, Ore.) while
Kaleb Palacio (Barcliff, Texas) was named a Second Team All-America Scholar Athlete.
The 2024-2025 season was highlighted by Palacio who was crowned the ECAC Champion in the floor exercise with a 13.650. This made him the first Springfield gymnast to win an ECAC title on the floor exercise and just the 18th student-athlete in Springfield College men's gymnastics history dating back to 1932 to win an ECAC individual title. He also earned CGA Regular Season All-America honors and a USA Gymnastics (USAG) All-America honors. Along with Palacio, Reichert and
Blaise Rousseau (Brecksville, Ohio) were earned USAG All-America Honors. The Pride saw 11 student-athletes selected to compete at the NCAA National Collegiate Championships with Carney advancing to the Saturday session on the high bar.
