Ann Arbor, Mich. – April 18, 2025 – Eight student-athletes from the Springfield College men's gymnastics team competed on the national stage in the 2025 NCAA National Collegiate Championships on Friday evening at the University of Michigan's Crisler Center.
The evening was highlighted by junior
Owen Carney (Sterling, Mass.) qualifying for Saturday's finals on the high bar as he produced a score of 12.800 to finish 15th overall in the event. Carney also registered an 18th place finish on the floor with a 13.200. Behind Carney on the floor was
Evan Reichert (Oswego, Ill.) with a 13.066 and
Will Wilson (Montgomery, Ala.) with a 12.266.
Reichert also produced a score of 13.533 on the vault, while Wilson recorded a mark of 12.400 on the rings.
The best placement for Springfield on the day came from
Devon Felsenstein (Blue Bell, Pa.) as he took seventh on the pommel horse with a score of 13.500 and followed it up with a 12.533 on the parallel bars.
Blaise Rousseau (Brecksville, Ohio) competed with Felsenstein on the rings and notched turned in a score of 12.333 and then went on to tally a mark of 12.866 on the parallel bars.
Gio Mantia (Aurora, Ill.) registered a score of 12.633 on the pommel horse, while
Felix Kriedemann (Strasslach, Germany) notched a score of 12.200 to round out the individual performances on the national stage.
Kaleb Palacio (Barcliff, Texas) competed in the All Around for Springfield and turned in a combined score of 72.564 for sixth place. Palacio's best event on the day came on the vault with a score of 13.800. The sophomore and College Gymnastics All-American went on to score a 12.833 on the floor, an 11.966 on the rings, an 11.866 on the high bar, an 11.533 on the pommel horse and a 10.566 on the parallel bars.
Carney will take on the high bar tomorrow evening at 6:30 pm local time in the championship finals of the event on ESPN2.
