Williams Bests Men's Tennis, 8-1

Williamstown, Mass. - September 21, 2016 - Junior Alex Romaine (Stamford, Conn.) battled to a win at No. 2 singles to highlight Springfield College's non-conference showdown with Williams College on Wednesday afternoon. 

Williams, who finished last year ranked 12th in the nation as a team, improved to 2-0 on the season while the Pride evened its record to 1-1.

Romaine put together a great outing at the No. 2 spot, producing a 6-3, 4-6, 10-8 victory over Rohan Shastri.  Springfield's other top performer in singles play came at the No. 4, as Justin Danielewicz (Portland, Conn.) was defeated, 6-1, 6-3.

In doubles play, Cameron Grant (Babylon, N.Y.) and Chris Unger (Westfield, Mass.) put together the Pride's closest match, falling at No. 3, 8-4.

Springfield will travel back to Williamstown next weekend when it compete in the ITA Regionals.
