Springfield, Mass. - September 3, 2016 - The Springfield College women's tennis team dropped a 9-0 decision to Babson College in their first action of the 2016 season on Saturday afternoon at Appleton Courts.

Kicking off the season against a New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) foe, the Pride went down 3-0 after doubles play, despite a strong effort at the top spot by Rachel London (Port Jefferson, N.Y.) and Melissa Parrish (Framingham, Mass.).  The duo was up 5-4 at No. 1 doubles before eventually falling, 8-6.  Emily Etter (Guilford, Conn.) and Cara Freadman (Richmond, Mass.) battled at No. 3 doubles in an 8-5 setback.

Freadman had Springfield's best showing in singles play at the No. 4 spot as he dropped a 6-3, 7-5 decision.

The Pride will compete again next weekend when it travels to take on rival Wheaton at 1:00 pm.
