Williamstown, Mass. - September 20, 2017 - Competing against one of the top programs in the nation, the Springfield College men's tennis team was upended by Williams College, 9-0, on Wednesday afternoon.
In doubles play, Springfield's No. 3 team of Sean Quirk (Mashpee, Mass.) and Drew Delorenzo (Burnt Hills, N.Y.) were edged by an 8-2 decision for the Pride's best showing.
Springfield's Alex Romaine (Stamford, Conn.) battled at the top spot before eventually falling by a 6-2, 6-7, 7-5 score in singles play, while both Cameron Grant (Babylon, N.Y.) and Chris Unger (Westfield, Mass.) were topped by 6-2, 6-1 scores at No. 2 and No. 4 singles, respecitively.
Next up for the Pride will be the ITA Regionals, which begin on September 29 in Middlebury, Vt.
