Babson Park, Mass. - April 18, 2018 - The Springfield College men's tennis team was defeated by Babson College, 9-0, in New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) play on Wednesday afternoon.
The loss drops Springfield to 6-7, 1-3 in conference play.
Babson cruised to three victories in doubles play, with Alex Romaine (Stamford, Conn.) and Court Honda (Morioka, Japan) falling by an 8-1 count at the No. 1 spot for the Pride.
In singles action, Romaine was topped, 6-2, 6-3 at the No. 1 spot, while Freddie Moffa (Granby, Conn.) was bested, 6-2, 6-1 at No. 6. Springfield's best showing on the day came from Chris Unger (Westfield, Mass.), as he was edged 7-5, 7-6 (8-6) while competing at No. 5.
Springfield will hit the courts again Saturday, April 21, when it hosts MIT at 2 pm.
