Nationally-Ranked MIT Tops Women's Tennis, 9-0

Springfield, Mass. - April 21, 2018 - The Springfield College women's tennis team was topped by nationally-ranked MIT, 9-0, in a New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) meeting on Appleton Courts on Saturday. 

The Engineers, ranked 13th in the country in the latest national poll, improved to 13-1, 7-0 on NEWMAC play.  The loss evened the Pride's record to 7-7, 2-5. 

In doubles action, the Pride's No. 2 team battled tough as Melissa Parrish (Framingham, Mass.) and Addie Kendall (Lakeville, Mass.) suffered an 8-3 setback. Rachel Ahlmeyer (Morris Plains, N.J.) was downed by a 6-3, 6-0 score at No. 6, while Parrish was bested 6-0, 6-2 at No. 5, and Kendall dropped a 6-2, 6-0 loss at No. 4.

The Pride will wrap up the regular season on Tuesday when it heads to Worcester to face Clark at 4 pm.
