New Haven, Conn. - January 26, 2020 - The Springfield College women's gymnastics program competed against Southern Connecticut, Brockport, and Cornell on Sunday afternoon in the Moore Field House.
Springfield produced a team score of 185.800 while Cornell put up a 189.650, Southern Connecticut registered a 187.025, and Brockport had a 186.450.
In the first event of the afternoon, the Springfield was focused in their efforts earning four scores over a 9.500. Sara King (Maribor, Slovenia) finished with the best score for the Pride with a 9.600 while MacKenzie MacLeod (Kennebunk, Maine) followed with a 9.5750 and Taylor Campagnone (Johnston, R.I.) continued to display her versatile skill set with a 9.5750.
The Pride produced their best vault score of the season with a 46.750 team score in the event with Ali Rushlow (Worcester, Mass.) producing Springfield's top performance with a 9.5500. First-year Tori Sipes (Windham, N.H.) was terrific in the her vault debut tallying a score of 9.4000. Taylor Jackson (Ocean, N.J.) added a performance which garnered a score of 9.3250.
On the bars, Springfield made major strides in the event with Sipes contributing a tremendous routine for a team-best score of 9.270, which placed her in the top-10 of the event. Sarah Murphy (Norwell, Mass.) stuck a strong double back dismount routine that garnered a score of 9.2000 flat. Campagnone earned a 9.0250 for her efforts in the event.
Springfield pumped in six scores all above a 9.000 in the floor event. Campagnone was displayed an energetic routine that powered the Criminal Justice/Sociology major to a third-overall finish and a 9.650 overall score. Devon Rosier (Hudson, N.Y.) added a nice contribution with a 9.4500 while Sophie Parquet (Stow, Mass.) earned a 9.3750. MacLeod registered a a 9.2500 in the event with Victoria Gendreau (Warren, R.I.) and Dominique Chaves (Hudson, Mass.) tallied scores of 9.100 and 9.000, respectively.
Springfield will now prepare for their tri-meet at West Chester against Rhode Island College and West Chester next Saturday.
